Welcome to the Paint & Body Shop, here we cater for the ‘project guitarist’, those players who are modifying their pre-existing instrument with new artwork or a relic finish, or, indeed, putting together their own unique instrument comprised of custom parts, pickup and equipment but are just lacking the right ‘body blank’ or artwork finish that they need to fulfil their dreams.

Body Blanks

Our ‘body blanks’ service caters primarily for Fender-based instruments, as these are the most common, standardised bolt-on neck instrument that we deal with (based on our catalogue of tribute guitars). Body blanks finished with the appropriate artwork or relic pattern can be ordered featuring no equipment or fully loaded at additional cost – making them ideal for that custom project. Pricing below covers the basics, simply contact us if you are looking for a particular style, design or make of body blank for your project and we will provide you with an independent quotation as soon as possible.

Custom Artwork

Having your own instrument or body blank re-finished by our team in your chosen artwork style couldn’t be easier, this unique service allows you to customise a guitar that you are already familiar with but wish to give a new lease on life. Our Custom Artwork services incorporate full dismantling of your guitar when it arrives at our workshop, pre-production and preparation work, artwork / relic application by our artist or team of luthiers, application of clear lacquer coats to seal in and protect artwork (where applicable) and finally, full re-assembly and testing of your instrument before it is returned to you, ready to enjoy.
Our Custom Artwork refinishes essentially involve standard artwork application, though some models, such as the Jimmy Page “Dragon” Telecaster or Paul Weller ‘WHAAM!’ Rickenbacker for example, have additional components like custom scratchplates etc. many of which are incorporated into the standard pricing but some may be at additional cost. Just contact us for more details on pricing for specific projects, in order to get an exact quotation.

Relic Finishes

Relic finishes, or refinishes, operate on the same basis as our Custom Artwork, though many of our Relic models feature all manner of additional body modifications and specific equipment in order to complete the correct look and feel, such as our S.R.V. Number One Stratocaster. Other models on the other hand, like the Jeff Beck Esquire, simply feature a specific relic pattern applied / carried out to the body / neck, so, again, for full details and an exact quotation for your project, just contact us to find out more and we will put a quotation together for you as soon as possible.

Custom Swirl Shop

Ever since the release of the coveted Steve Vai Ibanez Universe guitars of the late 80’s, ‘Swirling’ has been a popular guitar art form that has captured the imagination of guitarists the world over. Operating on the same basis as our Custom Artwork and Relic Finish services, our Custom ‘Swirl’ Shop allows you purchase your very own one-off classic, or to send us your own guitar or body blank to be finished in this exciting style of artwork.
Orders from our Custom ‘Swirl’ Shop incorporate your choice of any three ‘Swirl’ colours to be used and also, three ‘attempts’ at creating your ideal ‘Swirl’ pattern. If we hit the target first time, which is always our aim, then that’s great but we like to give you the opportunity to have us ‘try again’ if we do not capture the essence of your desired finish. ‘Swirling’ is far from an exact science and the results are always incredible, dynamic and totally unpredictable!
