REPAIRS & RESTORATION

Guitars really do share so much in common with their owners and players, accidents do happen and old age can set-in a little faster than we had hoped – luckily, when this applies to your faithful guitar, help is at hand.
The Painted Player’s team of skilled luthiers and technicians are available to bring your guitar back to its former glory, whether it has been damaged or has simply suffered a long, tough old life, our repair and restoration services ensure that your guitar is treated with the greatest of respect and returned to its original condition as closely as possible. Obviously, some things are beyond saving but never hesitate to contact us to find out what, if anything, can be done to give your instrument a new lease on life.

Repair Services

Our team’s combined experience in guitar repair covers more than 100 years – a century of skill at your disposal! Everything from savage headstock breaks, neck pocket cracks and smashed bodies, right through to the smallest dents, chips and scratches to your favourite paint finish – we are on-hand and available to investigate, evaluate and discuss your repair needs 7 days a week.
From your initial contact, we will ask you to tell us in your own words what your guitar’s problem is and, if possible, provide us with images so that we can make a rough assessment of the situation and take our conversation further, towards a possible solution. In most cases, it will be necessary to bring your guitar in (or have it sent to us) for a full, detailed investigation and we will then provide you with an honest evaluation of your guitar’s problems and the most efficient, cost effective way to rectify the damage with a quotation tailored to your specific requirements.
Sometimes accidents happen and it can be difficult to get your head round the extent of the damage that can be done to even the sweetest guitar, but don’t give up hope – sometimes things aren’t as bad as they first seem and with a dedicated team of professionals at your disposal, together we can figure out what can be done to make things right again. Contact us anytime to discuss having your guitar repaired and why not take a look at our ‘Luthier Services’ page to find out more about having your guitar serviced and maintained while she’s in the workshop.

Restoration Services

They say that the old ones are the best, for many guitarists that is very, very true – which makes it all the more disheartening when your loyal classic starts to show her age and feel a little less fantastic than she used to. In other cases, sometimes, finding that classic guitar you have always wanted means a bit of compromise and that shop-window purchase or eBay bargin can need quite a bit of work to bring it back to former glory but don’t worry, The Painted Player restoration team are waiting to be of assistance.
Our specialist team have an in-depth and uniquely diverse knowledge of classic and historic guitars that span across the years and across the globe, from well known brands such Burns, Watkins, Höfner and Teisco to the more obscure manufacturers such as Defil, Tonika, Wandré and Musima. Whether you would simply like to have your guitar cleaned, repaired, set-up and restored to former glory days, or require a full overhaul to chip away the dull surface of some former owner’s misuse and reveal the original beauty beneath, our enthusiasm for vintage guitar restoration and dedication to refinishing a guitar as closely as possible to how it would have originally looked makes The Painted Player your opportunity to give your classic guitar another 50 years or rocking.
However, it isn’t all about vintage guitars you know, sometimes it is incredible how guitars that have only been around for 10 or 15 years can look like they’ve been through hell and back and, ironically enough, sometimes you’re not looking for a ‘relic’ – sometimes you’re looking for a ‘time capsule’, a guitar that looks like Marty McFly took a quick 88mph drive and brought it back especially for you in pristine condition! Whatever your intention, we are here to be of service and reassure you that, even the most tattered old girl can be brought back to command the stage with the best of them…

Our team is available 7 days a week to assist you with any restoration questions, so contact us via our ‘enquiry form’ to find our more. If you have an enquiry regarding servicing or general guitar maintenance and set-ups then please visit our dedicated ‘Luthier Services’ page for more information.
