History

It was in the early 1970’s that classical guitar tutor Andy Summers was offered a highly modified 1961 Fender Telecaster by one of his students, which he purchased for the princely sum of $200. Despite the heavy modifications that had been carried out by a previous owner, during a time when experimenting with phasing and equipment modifications was all the rage, Andy became hopelessly addicted to the guitar and years later he joined a little band called The Police…
The guitar remains Andy’s principle player to this day and by all accounts, most of the guitar’s onboard modifications, including an active tube overdrive pre-amp and neck pickup phase-switching, have long since been deactivated but the guitar’s original look and feel still resonates with fans. Featuring a replacement Brass 6-saddle bridge, Seymour Duncan SH-1N neck pickup, additional control knob fitted to control the pre-amp and extremely heavy relic-ing, the guitar brought life to tracks such as “Roxanne” and “Every Breath You Take” and is the weapon of choice for any dedicated Police fan.
