THE Bruce Springsteen “Born to Run” Tribute Esquire

History

Based on Bruce Springsteen's iconic Fender Esquire, as used on the stunning album "Born to Run", this often emulated classic guitar started life as a 50’s Blonde Fender Esquire that was custom modified by 'the boss' himself to incorporate special features that, while overtly very subtle, created an iconic musical instrument. Fitted with an additional pickup in the neck position, Bruce essentially transformed his Esquire into a Telecaster, adding a replacement 8-hole black scratchplate and a ‘sticker’ that was placed on the scratchplate between the bridge and neck pickups to, arguably, hide some damage that had taken place during the new pickup installation.
Other features of this unique and revered classic also included repositioning of the original string tree guide and the installation of an additional one, fitted to the headstock to improve the string’s stability. New machineheads were fitted, replacing the original Esquire Klusons and over a period of time, the guitar’s relic-ed look and feel has become synonymous with one of the greatest guitar players of all time.
