A mysterious Les Paul, Paul Kossoff’s “Stripped-Burst” guitar had remained one of the most enduring but rarely glimpsed guitars in musical history. Used at the 'Isle of Wight' festival and through Kossoff’s early career. It is unknown whether Kossoff himself stripped the guitar’s original Sunburst finish or whether, while working in London’s West End guitar shops, he managed to get first option on the guitar when it came in as part of a trade purchase - whatever the truth, the guitar remained unfinished and inherited a fair share of damage, decay and abuse while it toured with Kossoff and, proving that a book should never be judged by the cover, provided the iconic guitarist with an incredible tone and sustain.
